And in case a little more context is helpful, the screenshots in my previous message were from my own application and on Linux/X11.
Here is a screenshot on Windows 11 with the default test/menubar program: 
The smaller arrow size looks great, and it has the 5/2 margin just like X11 that I think would look better as 4/3.

This is what a submenu arrow looked like in 1.3:
There is a margin of 5 pixels above the arrow and 4 pixels below the arrow.

This is how it would look moved just 1 pixel up so that there is a margin of 4 pixels above and 3 pixels below:
I think it looks really nice well-centered in its row, which is also more similar to 1.3.
I'm curious if you agree and if that is a simple enough change to make (without too many far-reaching consequences).
