| FLTK doesn't support wayland, but most gnu/linux distribution switched to it already. It would be nice to switch to wayland. https://wayland.freedesktop.org/docs/html/ | |

| Thanks for the suggestion and the link. We discussed this already, and for the time being we rely on the old X11 protocol even if Wayland is available. We currently don't know of any system that supports Wayland but not X11 so we should be safe.
Our development team is small and we don't have the resources to support Wayland right now, but maybe later. The new internal FLTK driver structure in 1.4 is designed to make it easier to implement a new driver, for instance for Wayland.
Note: I moved this RFE from 1.3-feature to 1.4-feature since 1.3 development is closed. | |

| Update: Wayland support is in development and will probably be in FLTK 1.4.0 which will be released soon.
It is possible though that some features will still be experimental but I hope that we will be 95% feature complete.
This will hopefully be in April 2022 if everything goes well. | |
